It's an Order of the Sacred Treasure 8th class. It's been awarded since 1888. In 2003 the 8th and 7th classes were removed. It looks good but I'd like to see a picture of the back of the ribbon.
Is there any way to tell the year?? it of this medal
That would be hard because it's been awarded from 1888-2003. Since the ribbon and the medal are in good condition and I'm no expert but I'd say it could be late WW2.
yes the seller is claiming late 1930s-to ww2 so i wasnt sure!
This is not really a War medal is it? from what i read it can be given to Civilians and the likes so this wouldnt be a good purchess for a ww2 medal Collection?
It's a medal awarded for "long and/or meritorious service and considered to be the lowest of the Japanese orders of merit". I wouldn't collect it if I was focusing on the Japanese military but if I was collecting Japanese medals I'd go for it. As for value, I could buy a cased one for $90 or a cased on with an award document for $170 so what is the dealer offering for it?
