Japanese Pith Helmet - IJN

I've had this pith helmet for 10+ years now and as with some of my older stuff i question the authenticity of some of the items....fortunately, I am here and hope the local IJA/IJN members with expertise can answer my questions

my assumptions
* private purchase
* painted from white to green at some point for use in the field

my questions
* is it legit ?
* is the badge legit ?
* paint job look like a war-time piece of work ?

just wondering if this was gussied up post-war.....I haven't seen any other example on the forum(that i could find)...it has been slightly crushed on the top at some point, hence the compressed vent and fractures in the paint job

all thoughts and input and even bad news is welcomed...thanks for looking !

I have three or four of these in different colors. I believe tan, green, white and blue gray. None are painted. All have same insignia as yours and all have different retail/makers labels. Yes, private purchases and many were from occupied countries. Your looks original but hard to say when it was painted
