    Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone could help answer a few questions about this item since i have not seen many around. it is a little beat up and the kanji is written on rice paper....I was wondering what the front cover says and perhaps the names on the two main officers, I assume it is the writing directly over the picture...any kind of unit info would be very appreciated...thanks

Mr. Chen always provides good help! If I may further add to what he wrote.

Unit. I *think* it is a "home guard" unit. 家 home; 所 place
    家所部隊高尾隊
    Kashō Butai Takao-tai
Home Defense Unit, Takao Company (Takao is the commander's surname)

The five 訓 "kun; instructions" of the camp:
真剣 Shinken -- Seriousness [literally "Real Sword" .... you're pretty serious when fighting with real sword!]
    明朗 Meirō -- Cheerfulness
    正直 Shōjiki -- Honesty
元気 Genki -- Energetic [also means healthy]
    根気 Konki -- Perseverance

    Thanks Mr. Chen!

P.S. Just found this postcard while researching. Addressed to the same Takao Company; note the 大阪 Ōsaka address.

Had to find 孨 in a Chinese database, hard to find in Japanese. Note that the original looks like 子子子 squeezed together, so I don't know if this is the actual kanji.

I have had good luck finding some of these obscure kanji by opening a blank MS Word document and then using the "PMingLiU-ExtB" font. The character can be found in the "CJK Unified Ideographs Extension B" subset under radical 39. I then cut and paste the character into forum threads.

Edit: The character will not display properly so added a screenshot instead.
