Default Japanese Type 19 Officer's Sword

I was bored today, so I took some crappy pictures of my type 19, and thought I might as well make a thread about it. Not the best sword in the world but not the worst. Some finish on the guard is still left, and a little plating has gone away on the blade.

    Ethan,
There has been a shortage of new gunto discussions lately! I just learned that the single ashi came toward the latter years of production. I had thought all 19s were single, but after having pointed out to me, and then re-reading Fuller's reference, appearantly "most" of them were double ashi and the singles came out toward the end. Don't know WHEN, but I believe the end of production was around 1935, so a couple of years or so before that?

Here's the gazette announcing the new uniform regs on 26th Feb. 1912. Note that the number of Haikan is related to branch, cavalry only having one and two for infantry.
Also, Guy's spelling of Haikan is off. Should be 佩鐶/環

I really appreciate this, Nick. I searched around for the kanji ... somehow I had alighted upon the wrong ones from the Ohmura site. Thanks for the correction.
