Kit (Set), Testing, Food? Translation assistance, please.
Greetings all,
Box measures 17 1/4 X 13 3/4 X 12". Kit comes with test tubes and flasks for holding liquids. Appears an alcohol burner and balance beam scale are MIA. Request a translation of the writing as shown on the top of the box's lid (top most image) and what food (military rations?) would this kit be used to test? Or, is it for testing water's purity? Thank you, for your thoughts/observations.

2. Sedimentation Test Glass
3. Cover for 2.
4. Reagent Bottles

The wording suggests food and not water. To me, the absence of an inventory list pasted on the inside of the lid, points to civilian lab use rather than military. Show us some labels on bottles, etc to see whether the components are military contracted.

Greetings Nick,
Thank you, for your thoughts. I will add some additional photos of the requested labels tomorrow.

Greetings all,
As requested, some bottles with markings. Unfortunately, there were no other labels, lists, or manufacturer's marks to be found.
Thank you, again.

None of those are military contract items, so your kit is civilian. However, I was able to find that the navy did have a food testing kit, whose name was worded identically to yours within the medical supply surrender inventory at the Navy's Yokosuka Depot in 1945. The army had their own kit, but the name included the phrase "Field Rations 糧食" instead of simply "Food 食品" like yours.

Thank you, for the insight and feedback, Nick. It is greatly appreciated.
Best,
