Last ditch Japanese military sword

This is the last type of Infantry sword produced by the Japanese during WWII.
This sword was captured on Saipan by:
John Scott
US Marines
2nd Division
110th Artillery

It has a metal scabbard, plain steel hand guard and wooden handle with diamond shape designs.
The blade is machine made and has no temper line.
It is crude compared to earlier machine made Japanese military swords.

Hi Steve , thanks for showing this sword , it`s basic construction really highlights the desperation in Japan towards the end of WW2 to manage to keep their troops supplied with arms from a severe lack of materials . A piece with provenance , i think it`s great
