I picked up a nice holster in good condition. All stitching is really good and the leather under the cover does not show much use. The kanji markings are present and I would appreciate some help with the date. They do not photo as well as they look. I hope you can see them well enough. Any help or opinions are always welcome.

A very nice example. I have a type 1. Not sure how to date these but if you look at the progression of types over the years I would guess it would be somewhere in the 1930's. Maybe mid to late? But just a wild guess on my part.

    Thank you for the replies.
I never thought it would be this hard to match up guns and holsters for period correct items. US and German items are easy as compared to Japanese items. The learning curve is steep.

It looks like a 3 and a 4 so add 25 it to and it may be a 1932, I do not know if that is to early for a type 3.

Thank you for looking. Dan, over on Gunboards, sees a 13 date. It is funny that the markings are much more clear when looking at it than by photo. Lighting was perfect during the pic.

    Didn't even notice the markings.

Here is a better shot of them.

Double click to enlarge. Looks like 10 and 3. So 13 or 1938.

That would put it at 38 that sounds better.

    Thank you.
Is the date the first two markings in line? What are the other two markings below?

The 13 is the first set of Kanji on the top left. it is a + over three lines. I asked my wife what the top right was but she couldn't read it.

I'm out of my element here. Best ask Guy or Nick what it all says.
