    Hello all...

I had some extra time waiting for my wife to finish shopping... so I went inside a local pawn shop to kill some time. I saw this sword for sale... the handle and fittings look somewhat like old metal type.. but the blade? Nope...

Sorry but these were the best pics I could get and he didn’t want me to take the handle off to look at the tang. Was afraid to damage the peg. Just curious of any thoughts.

    My thoughts are it’s Chinese?

That's my first impression, too - Chinese, but I'm not a nihonto expert. The hamon looks artificial, handle wrap too new (though that by it's self isn't a disqualifier), and tsuba artificailly aged.

Thanks Bruce... I too was thinking Chinese.

By the way... I used your connection (Don) for repairing the spring on my sword. Did an awesome job... $30.00... much better than $100.00! Thanks again!

Toy and replica swords in Japan may not have steel blades and be made instead out of aluminum, zinc, brass or plastic, so if it is magnetic it is no toy allowed in Japan.
