Depends on the size. The one for the upper right arm of the flight jacket was 10x10 cm, for the top of the flight helm was 8x8cm, on the parachute harness was 12x12cm and one for the back of the life vest was 7x4cm. These were introduced on 30th April 1945 after Japanese farmers in the Yokohama area ended up killing a Japanese pilot by mistake, who had to bail after intercepting B-29 bombers. This nationality ID was adopted by both the army and navy pilots. These were sewn on or painted on.
