I know. I sent a message to the seller for better pictures. However he may not reply.

Any best guess? Any organization of the time was using the name "Iishin ....."?

The Mei does not have a natural flowing dynamism to it and seems done by someone not used to cutting metal. I find it dubious. Ishinni means he made it with all his heart (dedication). "X-kuni made this with respect single-mindedly" is what it means, but the name is unreadable.

I'm quite often wrong on mei, but my bet is on this guy:

Not an exact match but seems like the one you've posted is just poorly written version of this one.

Your picture shows smith name "Ikkansai Kunimori".

My picture is definitely not "Ikkansai Kunimori". My best guess is 一心盡國 which is a patriotic slogan, "one heart devotion to the nation".

The sword was sold on ebay. I didn't get any reply from the seller.

    I think it's a strange sword.

I do not like the translation “I gladly give my life.” It is 東都住人 Toutou juu nin [Resident of To[kyo] City].

    東都住人一貫斎~~~~~
    Toutou Juunin Ikkansai etc.
