    Gents,

Here is my first piece of militaria for 2019! It is Type 30 bayonet made by the Kokura Arsenal and judging by the style of the Maker's mark dated about 1936? I'm not familiar with the small item attached as being a good luck charm or not? Need those in the know to help out. Thank you!

That is a small fragment of some civilian commercial item like a broken off stem of a toothbrush. It has wartime price control commercial markings and the word "premium", but "a premium what" we cannot tell as the rest was broken off.

    Nick,

I thank you so much for your help. Interesting none the less that it looks as though it has been attached to the frog buckle for a long time.

    Hi Joel,
I think it will be earlier than 1936 as the serial number is numerals only. For example up to about serial 1,400,000 pre-date 1915.
    Cheers,

Didn't one of the forum members here once say those toggles were to secure the bayonet, or something else? I've also seen bamboo toggles affixed just like yours.

Yes to secure scabbard onto bayonet. I don't really see the need but...yes piece of a toothbrush handle

Interesting ingenuity. I like it even more.

    Thanks Gents!
