海軍記念日 May 27th was the anniversary day, in commemoration of Tsushima.
記念展覧会 memorial/commemorative exhibition.
横須賀鎮守府 Yokosuka Naval District.
Not sure of the year, maybe Akira can figure that out.
I searched the internet with the hope of finding an example with its original box which is likely to have the date on it, but no luck there. The ship depicted on the medallion, which is actually a “文鎮” , paperweight used in calligraphy to keep the paper from shifting while writing, is a Takao class heavy cruiser, the namesake of which, the Takao (高尾)being built and commissioned at the Yokosuka naval shipyard on May 31, 1932 which might give some clue to its date.
I myself have no knowledge on battleships but those in the know may be able to figure out the exact era depicted by the ship’s configuration and since the exhibition was held at Yokosuka, it is only natural that they would use the latest ship built there as the central motif for a souvenir commemorating the exhibition.
