it also appears to have had its original tang removed and had the weird one with the gibberish welded to the blade under the habaki.
Thanks Guy, I think the first character is 万. I don't suppose that makes any more sense.
I am not going to be bidding on this but still really curious to find out its story.
After looking at the grain of the blade in the new pictures, it is acid etched. Not Japanese and pure trash.

10,000 Tokyo Small [or substitute "Tokyo" for East Capital ... same thing, though]
So, why would even a Chinese engrave this mumbo-jumbo? It makes no sense in Chinese either: 10,000 East, Capital Small
