In my opinion, they sold for a very high price. These form of sword always have machine made blades. Sorry to respond after the auction ended.

I am like Bob I have a prejudice towards machine made blades.
I wouldn't worry about missing the auction you would have had to pay to much for the pair. Probably a lot more than the auction ended at.
These are all pre-World War II Japanese swords. They are good as representative Japanese blades for the pre-1936 Japanese military, but if you want WWII Japanese this is not for you. These usually run around $300 US dollars. Always look to see if the serial number on the sword matches the scabbard...
