An original period Imperial Japanese Army officer's katana. The color of the paint on the scabbards has variation in both hue and texture. In most cases the scabbards are steel. However examples do exist of this form mounting with brown lacquered wood scabbards.
PS: From the pictures, the blade appears to be a standard issue machine made blade.
