The memorial at KL Gross-Rosen.
This particular memorial marker mentions the statistics of those who were incarcerated at the camp - over 120,000, of whom over 40,000 perished. The steps to the rear lead off to the quarry site, located nearby.

Another year has passed since the liberation of the camp - earlier this week saw the 72nd anniversary. We will be addressing the camp in detail during our spring study trip. Along with the Theresienstadt camp-ghetto, Groß-Rosen will feature prominently.

More images taken during our latest KZ study trip. The first photographs show interior views of the Waschraum and Häftlingsküche (Washroom and Prisoner Kitchen).
Next, the large water heater facility inside the Waschraum and the external water reserve. Such facilities were present at many Konzentrationslagers - they are often mistaken for swimming pools but were actually established within the wooden barrack area of a camp, to serve as an emergency water supply in the event of a fire.

Final image for now, also taken recently. The fencing just inside the Häftlingslager (Prisoner Camp).
Another year passes…
Today, February 13th 2020, marks the 75th anniversary since the camp at Groß-Rosen was liberated.
