Kriegsmarine 2nd model Eickhorn etched dagger with portepee and hangers

Article about: Can anyone help identify this dagger to type? My father-in-law took this from a dead officer during W.W. II and I always assumed it was army. I now suspect its naval. Thanks in advance.

I know this is an old thread...and PA Reb has not been active since 2011 so ..if the forums Gents here may be able to identify this dagger as it appears by the fittings used..would be appreciated
