    One thing that seems quite different from most KVK is that it isn’t flat. This one is a slight curved shape of the medal as seen. (Apologies if some terminology isn’t so good)

    As for the time period, I’m not so certain. It might be the later zinc types, however, I may be wrong.

    It appears to be an original late war zinc St.&L example.
    It is what is referred to as "vaulted", and is most likely done by the recipient.

    As Ralph says, a later made award in zinc with the pin made of tombak or perhaps brass?
    No issues with it being original and it being vaulted to let it sit against the uniform better.

    Looking for LDO marked EK2s and items relating to U-406.....
