Hello fellas long time no post for me. Been super busy with life !
I picked up this lovely lady from a local fella, and I must say she is a wonderful example of early War quality and maker marked L/16 . S&L made very good quality awards I must say

Very nice early KVK. It has just right amount of wear. Lovely piece, I like it. Great find and purchase. Congratulations.

Hello guys!
Sorry but this is a so-called Floch fake and the mm is probably L15.
(This cross has nothing to do with Orth in my opinion)
Best Regards
Martin
I'm writing this inon parenthesis just because 5tefan has this type of cross listed on his KVK1 DNA page as a Orth cross.

Martin
The maker's mark looks like L15 to me as well.
Hence, I would agree with Martin.

I see gotcha . Upon closer inspection under a loop I see it's a L/15 on it. My eyes are too far sighted after LASIK, and now I can't see very well up close

Maker mark is L15 definitely, St&L did not make L/16 marked KVK1 without swords actually, they only made KVK1 without swords marked 4. I have completely overlooked that while I was reading your post Humble collector. But its still very nice KVK1 and I do not think that this one is Floch fake, although some additional pictures, especially close up pics of hook and hinge as well as very clear pics of obverse and reverse, would be very helpful.

Franko
I have stared at that war merit cross for a few minutes and I am quite certain that its original Friedrich Orth piece. Floch fake should have some different details on obverse as well as slightly different reverse set up.
Best regards,
Franko
