Thought shall be the harder , heart the keener,
Courage the greater as our strength faileth.
Here lies our leader ,in the dust of his greatness.
Who leaves him now , be damned forever.
We who are old now shall not leave this Battle,
But lie at his feet , in the dust with our leader

I took a four hour one day bus trip there from Riga so only had a few hours to spend. We did the tourist sight seeing thing.
I noticed there was a Holocaust Museum in Vilnius but didn't have time as we had to get the bus back

    Nice photo's Nick.

Out of interest how was the German occupation portrayed. Was there any mention of the Germans initially being seen as liberators or the volunteer SS and Wehrmacht units.

There was mixed feelings as a large percentage of these States were ethnic Russian. I bought a book from the museum on the Occupations of Latvia which I'm about to start reading.

I will post any interesting facts on this post

I concur with Paul regarding Bloodlands, a very good if somewhat depressing book.
