Horster, Holler, WKC, SMF, Alcoso, Tiger, WMW, there are more. I don't know if they are manufacturers or if they just use gold plated pommels. Probably on the early examples they were gilded and then pommels without gilding began to be used.
Georgi.
Hi Georgi,
I thought theres only few makers who made gilded pommels on 2nd model luftwaffe daggers.
So Horster, Holler, WKC, Alcoso, Tiger and WMW had gilded pommels on 2nd model lufts?
Eickhorn Paul Weyesrburg and SMF were the best at gilt application where as other producers were less resilient or did not gilt at all.
Through handling of the dagger as well...the gilt was lost.

Georgi, tnx for info.
Larry, was gilt application done by anodizing or painted?
Here is the overall process on Gilding ....in respect to how it was done during the TR period...I would say it was done by hand.

For the (so-called) 1st and 2nd model Luftwaffe daggers - how the 'gilding' was applied the methods varied depending on the time period, base metal, and maker. With copper, nickel silver, and zinc the least expensive and easiest was electroplating. With aluminum (including swords) it got more complicated. Some were color anodized, others used a multi-step plating plus process with the only painted ones being some of the Spanish replicas. Best Regards, Fred
