Luftwaffe dagger authentication
Hello everyone, I'm new here. I specifically searched Google for information on bayonets, and the search engine led me to your forum. I read several threads and was very pleased.
I live in Estonia and have an interest in cold weapons. Our market is small, so I bought a Luftwaffe second type dagger in Lithuania. However, I'm not entirely sure if it's authentic. Could you please take a look and tell me if it's original?

May have scabbard repair. Hanger straps are different. I don't know if that matters?

I have attached 7 more photos, hope I took them from the right angles.
I have never encountered a Luftwaffe dagger from 'Tiger' production before. It seems to be a quite rare dagger, isn't it?

in your first set of photos Georgi pointed out that there are 2 separate scabbard band types and in which I noticed that the lower band was upside down.....then in your next set of photos an Angel of Mercy appeared and turned that lower band right side up going in the right direction...I wonder how that happened
The crossguard shows artificial aging seen on post war Spanish copies
The pommel has no relation to Tiger ...and I examined both Tiger and Puma ( Lauterjungwerk ) which is the same family and the pommel on the example you posted ...the detail is damaged but not enough to know this is not a Tiger Pommel which IMO is also postwar.
The type grip is correct that is seen on Tiger daggers and also other dagger produced types that used the double strand of grip wire.
To answer your question on rarity...yes Tiger is less a common make seen in todays market...but the dagger you posted is parted junk IMO.
Dont forget to tell the community here how that lower scabbard band mysteriously returned to its correct upright position

The photos in the first post are the pictures taken by the seller who sold me this dagger. The second set of photos was taken by me personally today. It seems the seller used one set of photos for the sale and, after the purchase, made a substitution. That's sad
Regarding the blade itself, is it original, or is it also a post-war reproduction?
Blade appears real..but dont waste your time or money ...its not worth it.

Thank you for the detailed explanation; I really appreciate it. But I already have the dagger, and no matter its condition, there is no point in getting rid of it. The fact that it has an original blade and hilt is already good, but of course, it's a pity that the guard and pommel are replicas.
What about the scabbard; is it original or a reproduction?
Its a pity you spent more than what its worth.
I would not trust the scabbard or any of it now..since the seller turned around the lower scabbard collar.
I will not further comment on this dagger.
