Billy G on GDC claims there is a picture in wear:
TJ Collecting the Edged Weapons of the 3R, volume VII, pages 337-338. There is a shot of the Luft Forestry bayonet with 2 small paragraphs. There is another picture of a Luftwaffe Gefreiter who was assigned to the forests near Koschwitz, Upper Silesia & alleged to have carried one at that time patrolling the forests for poachers.

Ger
Thankyou Wim......for the English speaking readers here and also the Gothic font is abit challenging to read....what is a quick translation of those documents?

Officially the Hirschfänger was to be worn by both.
State-forestry mentions the Standhauer for "students".
There is no talk at all for other knives or the bayonet (Seitengewehr).
When these were worn this was not according to the regulations.
The start for L.DV.84 mentions it was not allowed to make changes
"eigenmächtig" (to take matters in own hand). Maybe HPL2008 is so
kind and willing to make global translations. All what is dealt with
with this discussion is "taken matters in own hand" and so NOT
according to any of the regulations!
I am sure not one of the authors will have had these informations.
Otherwise they should have been so fair to mention restrictions and
to learn collectors about the "how and what"! Who is served with the
twist of facts........???
"Till 1943 there was a Luftwaffe department a so called: Dienststelle: „Chef des Ausbildungswesens der Luftwaffe“ (Chef AW) im Oberkommando der Luftwaffe (OKL)."
So Ger have you gone off your explanation and receipt evidence you posted in post#28 that seems to suggest Ch A.W. was Chromolit Besteckfabrik Arthur Wingen?
As for the Alex.Coppel version of this knife, I posted a picture of it back in post#32. I haven't seen any Luftwaffe marks on that one or any other. Though it is numbered.
If there are photos, post them up here. Let's see them. Otherwise it's still hearsay.
Read the regulation Gerrit. I will not further continue
with this discussion (but who knows).
The guy from the photo did wear - when he actually did -
the knife not authorized and used a private purchase thing!
Just another sort of knife....
This Luczyk person probably was a member of the
Fortschutzkommando. Their members officially were
equiped with the standard bayonet, as much came
from Luftwaffe stocks.
To give an idea about what was worn with the Forstschutzkommando
my last two photographs for the subject (both photos are credited to
Helmut Weitze):
I read it when real evidence comes.
Interesting, thank you for posting the book reference to Robert Luczyk the Luftwaffe man whose father was the head forrester. The reference says Luczyk carried such a knife when he was working in the forest. But it doesn't say it was issued to him. He could have bought his one for all we know. Clearly a man with an interest in forests as his father was a head forester, it says Robert was also a member of a Shooting club. That raises another interesting possibility, were these knives issued or worn by Shooting club members?
Then we can also agree that Johnson was basing his facts on hear say also.
