    Hello,

This Luger belonged to the commandant of Rutledal coastal fort in Norway. His name was possibly Major Müller, trying to confirm this. As far as I know the holster was also his, it has at least been with this Luger for years.

As far as I know this is a 1941 Mauser Luger? I was wondering if you guys could tell me more about it? What can you tell about the holster? I'd expect some markings on it but I can't find any.

Unfortunately the pistol has been deactivated. It's a shame really, but also the only way I legally can own this gun in Norway so I've come to accept it as such.

That's been more than deactivated... its been butchered. A much neater job could have been done than that, and still been within the rules. It's such a shame that some gunsmiths don't put a little more thought into what they are doing.

    Cheers,
    Steve

I agree. It's a shame... I've discussed with a couple of gunsmiths if it is possible to correct some of it. Unfortunately the new EU rules for deactivation will make it even worse...

I do not have any written proof (how can one provide such proof anyway?), but I'm told I am the third owner of this Luger since the commander in Rutledal. The first person acquired it from the German commander directly. He then gave it to person two (who also arranged for the deactivation) who again gave it to me, the third person after the German commander.

Thank you for posting the very good-quality photos ; but I have to confess that I'm truly shocked.

I'm very familiar (not to say bored) with the constant criticism about deacts but as collectors we have to operate within the laws of our respective countries. However the 'work' shown here goes beyond deactivation and IMO is close to vandalism. Whatever the provenance, the aesthetics of a historic and iconic WW2 weapon have been ruined.
