Does anyone know if they would paint the iron sight on the weapon during the war? or is that post-war? If I'm correct the pistol was commercially sold to Finland, but it doesn't seem to have the SA stamp so I assume this one was not bought for the military..? It didn't have the Finnish-made Tikkakoski barrel that the army used.

it was done to quickly pick up the front sight in dim lighting. I have done it with fingernail polish. quick removal with no damage to the gun.

Front sight had been changed. Not just paint. This luger would make a great shooter.

Yes. it is a post war sight. ( front sight.) Maybe Mauser rifle. Can't tell by the photos. But defiantly not a Luger sight.

Thanks for the info about the sight. I also have a TikkaKoski barrel that came with it. Might be the original one that was used during the war. I think the gun was used by a Finnish officer (The hole in the grip plate is for a tag) maybe the officer could have applied/modified it during the war?
