Continuing on my alleged crusade to capture the market on Imperial EK2s, another popped through the door today.

It is marked '800' and appears to be a sand cast core, which looks pretty rough and rattles a lot in its silvery cage.

It is the second '800' EK2 that I have, the other I would think is die struck and has a slightly different font for the '800'.

I think I saw a few similarities in the features of both crosses but I'll show them here and those learned fellows who also collect these wonderful medals may expand some.

    Cheers

    Jamie

Nice, although I see your cross also has a makers mark, is it 'PS'?

There are documented references to a PS and PS 800 maker stamps. The PS stamp is still to the best of my knowledge, is of an unknown manufacturer. Another nice find my friend!

The PS stamp is seldom seen and as Joel has mentioned, still unidentified.

Hi Jamie, been away from the forum for a few days. Yes it is PS as others have confirmed. The medal now looks a little better since I cleaned it up. I'm sure I will get some criticism for doing it, but hey, nevermind, each to his own

Nah, sometimes it's nice to see a really shiny ek2. Let's face it, there are MILLIONS of them.

I've done it myself just to see the effects. It's amazing how only using a cotton bud can remove decades of blackness to reveal shinyness

Nice to have some people agreeing with me for a change. I tend to clean and polish everything that I buy so that it is of display quality. Also, when did anybody last see a war veteran wearing "dirty" medals? Going to a militaria fair tomorrow, so hopefully I will have something new to show.
