1914 Eisernes Kreuz, Otto Schickle one piece

Some time ago, I had a lovely 1 piece Otto Schickle EK2 and for whatever stupid reason, I decided to sell it, and my Schickle EK1 to a fine member of this forum. I regretted it ever since haha.

So, despite holding Kens cats hostage for the best part of 3 weeks, he has not seen sense and returned them to me . So I've been on an extensive hunt an finally tracked down another, which arrived yesterday.

Just asking ----do you think it has been repainted?

Hey Greg,

When I first received it I did think that a repaint had been carried out.

However, I've spent some time looking under magnification at the beading and where it joins the core, and I can't find any sign that "repair" has been carried out, certainly not to my amateur eye. I couldn't see any areas of overpainting or where the paint was thicker in any one area.

If it has been repainted then it's a sterling job. Or I may have been extremely lucky and have a time capsule piece... This will be reflected in the resale price hahaha

I'll leave it up to you guys on whether it's been repainted or not, but it is spectacular looking. Lovely!
