Eisernes kreuz 1.Klasse marked Fr

Hi guys, i actually never checked this iron cross since i have bought him, i always believed that it is good original item, but i just wanted to be sure. What are your thoughts about this iron cross?

Thank you for posting your cross. I believe it to be an original. At the corners of the beading there looks to be a square pattern which is a telltale sign of Friedlander. Here is one for comparison.

This Comparison Cross is stamped, FR. Interesting frame similarities.

Looks fine to me. Also the damage on the back - it couldve had an engraving that was removed/filled.

Hi Ralph, at this moment light conditions doesnt allow me to take some clearer photos of maker mark. That mark is very small, it is also just below the catch so its hard to take some good pictures of it. But i'll try. Maybe if you zoom in second picture you will be able to see that maker mark good enough.

I have to agree with you buellmeister, there really are square pattern at the corners of the beading. It seems to be Friedlender indeed.

As far as I know, there are two Fr. makers that marked their WW I crosses, Friedlander & Frank und Reif.
Here is my EK II marked Fr. for Friedlander.
