There are period examples of medal bars with
the Ek2 mounted backwards. (most often seen on
Bavarian bars ) Some say it was done out of some
sort of protest or that some turned them backwards
after the Kaiser abdicated his throne.
This cross makes me wonder if it has something to
do with that or if it's just a "Frankensteined" piece
gone wrong.

myself around.
Unfortunately these were the only two pictures provided by the seller, neither was there any description of the cross. As far as I know the cross was not sold back then (I am ashamed that I let this opportunity to slip away - call it a rookie error) but I still hope it might appear one day again. I would definitely be glad to have it in my hands and be able to share more detailed pictures with you.
Gentlemen, there's a fellow on E-Bay selling lots of German militaria, Imperial/TR & post war including 57ers..... have a look at this Imperial EK I at £249............comments appreciated on his wares if some one cares to have a look. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5842-Germa...item3f2a0e6d2c

I don't see any prices that really excite me at all. Everything seems to be retail or more.
looking at this Hamburg cross, I can't tell if the ribbon ring is flattened or not. I had read that the non-flattened ones were of a newer manufacture.
Here's mine. I took the picture to show how it should look flattened.
I don't like the Ek1. It might be good but hard to
say for sure. I most definitely would not spend that
amount for it. The loose ek2s look good but the
ribbons look like new replacement ribbons.
I am not good with medal bars but I would be very
very cautious. I would have someone who really
knows "other states" ribbons check them out.
As mention above --nothing really exciting.

Which crazy guy is prepared to pay £129.99 for unmarked EK1 57 version? Or £56.99 for common 1914 EK2? Show me such person, please. I have a couple of great crosses for him...
