Oh no Chris, you are hooked, I can feel it ;-) Congrats on your cross ! Does it come with any provenance ?? One are always a little sceptic when it comes to engravings :-/ Do you have a pick of the front ? Mfg Marc
Ps how come engraving is vertical ??
yeah; i think I might be! Problem is i am hooked on so many other things......
There is a provenance! I ll posted it as soon as i get it.
Here is the front side.
That is a very nice "blued core" Zimmerman. I like the
engraving. The style is correct and there appears to
be patina in the engraving. Just as it should be.
Great cross

Thanks Greg and unimarc!
No clue for what the reason might have been that the engraving is as it is.....???
Looking forward to clear that up!
The provenance of the medal is ok! It was found in a house clearance in the Elzas, last week.

Nice Zimmermann! Roughly translated, the engraving says the following: "To commemorate our common war time, Hentschel".
I presume that "Hentschel" should be a German family name. Perhaps a gift from a friend, a fellow veteran?
It may sound foolish,.....but I just noticed; when laying in front of you in it's correct position and you pick it up, to turn it around (in one move and in the most logical way!) you get to see the engraving, without any need to turn you head or your wrist.......
But that only works with your left hand.....
So then again;.....like I said: foolish...!

Hi Kris,
Actually there is a cross in " The Iron Time" on page 221, engraved in the same vertical fashion as yours :-) there must be a reason :-?
