Nice cross Ralph.
I have always liked the KAG ccrosses, particularly the hinge, pin hardware.
Yours looks to have a early sand cast iron core.----nice.

I was addicted to the "Hokey-Pokey" but I've turned
myself around.
I was given these two on Saturday, they were awarded to brothers killed on the same day, same battle, same company and came directly from the great great niece.
My camera is buggered so the pics are from my 5mp phone camera, sorry about that. I think the maker is Fr. on both but the phone can't take a detailed enough shot.

Nice twins, congrats.
Yes, it was typical ww1 practise to put guys from same family, same school, or same town to one batallion. It looked like positive move, because they could serve between people they knew, but when such batallion failed to some troubles, sometimes whole family or even village (their maleĀ“s half) was completely wiped out.
Just brought this home yesterday from a local show.
It's a Meybauer pinback that has obviously seen better days hoever
it is my first pinback from that maker and it is silver marked 935 which
to me is a nice little bonus.

it's a shame about the damage but it does add a bit of character to the cross
and it would have been nice to have the Meybauer crest on it however it is
easily recognized by the style of the pin.

I agree, handsome Meybauer.
Congrats Greg, despite the "battle damage" :-) I love Maybauer's, just bought 2 cased 3 Reich ones myself ;-) BTW there is a KMST ladder EK on German eBay at the moment, ending in 45 minutes !!! Interesting to see the end price :-/ Mfg Marc
Thanks Guys
Marc,
I bet it will go high. Prices for average crosses seam to be dropping off
a little while the prices for the rare or hard to find just keep going up.

I used to buy average crosses on eBay at 100-120 euros, but a long time ago I've seen one go at that price :-(
So far the KMST is at 750 euros .
