Hi Chaps, just picked up this unmarked screwback EK1. The core looks like a Paul Meybauer, Berlin to me? It looks like a custom order as you can see a couple of marks where the pin hinge was supposed to be. The plate & screw show plenty of wear & have lost their plating. It doesn't look like a hook was ever fitted, Cheers, Richard.
Hi Richard,
Thanks for giving my old thread a well needed bump.
I really like the looks of your new cross. But unfortunately it will be tough
to assign a maker to it. That core style is known as the "slant W" core. It's
called that because of the noticeable slant to the top middle portion of the "W".
It is one of the generic cores used by a few different makers. (it's one of my favorite
core styles) We would need to match the frame details to a known maker marked
frame.
--again, nice looking cross.

I was addicted to the "Hokey-Pokey" but I've turned
myself around.
Richard,
I concur with Greg that the "slant W" crosses are very appealing and the fact that your cross is a screw back, tops the charts in my book. A very fine acquisition!
Cheers,
Joel

Hi Chaps, just picked up the boxed EK2. The medal is a nice, sadly non-maker marked, standard EK2. I've not seen this type of private purchase box before with the bilingual French/German title. I know French was often used by the German States e.g. Pour Le Merite. But it does make me wonder if it came from the Alsace-Lorraine area,
Cheers,
Richard.
That's a very interesting set. I have never seen a case like that before.

I realize I posted this one on the forum just a couple weeks ago
but I think that it is rare enough that it needs to be posted to the sticky as well.
1870 3/4 sized Prinzen that is maker marked LL. ( Louis Lemcke or L. Lauer )
More of this cross can be seen here--------
The exception to the rule

Hi Chaps, just picked up this WW2 LDO replacement Imperial EK1. Nicely marked L/11 for Wilhelm Deumer, Lüdenscheid,
Cheers,
Richard.
That is a beautiful example of a LDO marked Imperial cross.
They don't get much nicer than that.
