Very good additions.
Your Victoria cross is nicely marked. Most times, the name is almost completely
worn off.

Thanks, the 1st class Maybauer looks nicer in hand, photo's sometimes lose some of the quality look
Hi Serge,
I hate to be the bearer of bad news but IMO, that cross is not
made by Wagner.
The cross itself MIGHT be an original cross but that style sometimes
refered to as the " large crown - closed 4 " style has been faked and
the fakes are close enough to the originals of that style that is very
very hard to tell them apart.--I can not.
Original Wagners can be found with 4 different core variations. None are
the large crown closed 4 style like the one that you posted. Also--
the hair pin style hardware on the reverse is a common thing found on
fake Wagner 1870s. Wagner never actually used that style of pin. Even
on their 1870s.
Wagner 1914 1st class crosses are most commonly marked "WS". Very
rarely a Ek1 can be found marked "WuS". Usually in a small box to the
right of the catch. Wagner never marked a 1914 with the full script makers
mark like that found on their 1870s. Also the font is wrong. It's close but it's
wrong. I personally don't think that there is anything at all original about
this cross.
Below, I have posted the 4 accepted Wagner cores as well as clos ups of
the most common two and also a view of a Wagner maker's mark.

Thank you Chopperman! Your input is always very much welcome!
This cross goes to the “shame bin” for further disposal in order to reduce the number of fakes in the world. Good that I did not pay much for it.
Just got this Imperial EK1, been wanting to get one for a long time but another item always got in the way of me actually purchasing one. The black finish on the front isn't in the best shape but I still really like it. Couldn't find a makers mark any where on it. The only mark it has is an 800 but I'm guessing that has to do with the silver content.
