Ralph and Greg,
Fantastic pieces! The retrofitted crosses certainly tell a story all to their own of the possibility of strained supply lines and isolation on the front.

Very cool. I think these weird front conversions merit a separate thread.
Really nice conversions to 1st class EK's. I've not yet seen one to purchase but when I do I think after seeing these it will be a must to add I feel.

Well, seeing as I still hunt for the first purchases of 2023, I thought I'd share a few crosses that I picked up in the last weeks of 2022.
First off is this 800 marked cross, think it is a CD. It comes in its box with the lovely purple velvet liner.
Second is this Deumer with a little bit of paint loss from the front. But still very nice presented in a luxury private purchased box...
Last up, this lightweight one piece cross, made by F&BL
Here's hoping for many more this year... In fact, just as I type I've made a deal on a lovely cross from one of my favourite makers.
To be continued...
Very nice crosses, thanks for sharing
jamie,
The last weeks of 2022 proved lucrative! Two lovely additions.

Great additions Jamie.
Thanks for posting them.
Yes, the first one is a CD.

I was addicted to the "Hokey-Pokey" but I've turned
myself around.
Congratulations on your first cross by Carl Dillenius and thank you
for adding it to this thread.
It is a very nice cross.
Now that you have the one marked CD 800 in two lines, you can looked for the one marked
CD800 in one line and the ones that are marked on the pins.
and again, it's a really nice cross.

It's been a little while since posting a new EK on this thread but this one has just joined my collection this very day.
It has everything that I have grown to love about this award over the years and one of the reasons why I collect virtually nothing else but EK's from 1914 and the occasional 1939.
This one has a mark that I've not seen before in my search for makers and makers marks. A very clearly stamped B. At first I thought it could be an R miss struck but now it's in hand it is a very clear B.
I have only just started looking into this one but have a feeling that it is an unknown maker or mark. I have found one site on the web, (Ehrenzeichen - Orden.de) that suggests the maker as möglicherweise Hersteller Bury & Leonhard, Hanau.
I'd love to hear any thoughts you may have on this little gem.
