I think you are right mate. It must have been repaired at some point.
Nevertheless still a nice cross

Good for you!
That is a nice cross. The CD marked crosses are indeed thought to be made by
Carl Dillenius and they are very well made crosses. If it was repainted, someone
did a good job. I don't see any brush strokes or paint overlapping onto the frame.
I am glad to see you posting it in this thread. I wish I could post more but I've been
on a real dry spell lately. ----- Lack of funds.

Very Nice Collection of EKs from before 1939. It is refreshing to see the older ones.

I do not think your cross as been repaired. I checked my CD800 Ek2 and it
also has a lot of solder where the ring is attached. I think it is just the way
they put them together.
BigJohn,
Thanks, The members have put together a great selection of crosses. Some
are just downright great. I personally own just a sampling of TR crosses. I
really prefer the quality and variety of the Imperial ones.
Here is a bit of variety-----

Good Day Gentlemen,
I didn't really know if I should post this one here on just in the general WWI forum. But, since it's related to the EK, I figured here (or it can be moved?)
To start, I also collect WWI german uniforms and I have a pair of HBT Drille hose that was missing a buckle on the back. I located two exact ones on ebay, bid on them and won (all for the adsorbent price of 5,95 euros) This is the photo that was on the auction.
Now, when it came in, I received a pleasant suprise on the ribbon that came with them (I was expecting a couple of pieces of new ribbon) To what I've read on the forum, I believe both to be original. They passed a black lite test, a burn test and they have the "feel".(in the photo, the top two are originals I already owned and the new are the two at bottom)
The seller told me that they were in a box of "stuff" which he had no clue about (Would love to see that box) I couldn't believe the luck, as I stated earlier, I was just after the buckles.
Anton
