    Above are two images of the ribbon bars from the former Kingdom of Bavaria.
    Bavaria was a German kingdom (Königsreich Bayern) located in southeastern Germany. One of the four Kingdoms that integrated the German Empire
    From left to right and top to bottom:
    01. EK2.1914 + Bavarian Military Merit Cross, III Class
    02 Bavarian Military Merit Cross, III Class, with Swords + EK2.1914
    (Sorry. It´s upside down)
    03. EK2.1914 + Bavarian Military Merit Cross, III Class + EFK.
    04. EK2.1914 + Bavarian Military Merit Cross, III Class, with Swords + EFK.
    05. EK2.1914 + Bavarian Military Merit Cross, III Class + EFK + Bavarian Military Service Medal (Probably for 12 years of service)

    Above there are two images of the ribbon bars from the former Duchy of Brunswick.
    Brunswick was a German Duchy (Herzogtum Braunschweig) located in central Germany and dominated by the mountain range of Harz.
    From top to bottom:
    01. EK2.1914 + War Merit Cross 1914. II Class (Ernst August Cross)
    02. EK2.1914 + War Merit Cross 1914. II Class “Knopfloch” (Button hole miniature for civil suit)
    03. EK2.1914 + War Merit Cross 1914. II Class + EFK.

    Muy impresionante.. i have never seen such a collection before.. Quite refreshing to the eye.. maybe i should get some ribbonbars myself. I could wear the largest one on the bus to work and demand some respect from the fellow working class heroes on board.. Muchas gracias for letting us see your fabulous collection.

    It will be nice to have a member here that knows how to read ribbon bars.
    Every once in a while I come across someone who needs to research a bar
    and as much as I would like to be able to, I'm just not very good at it.

    First of all a clarification of terminology:
    To name the 2nd Class Iron Cross of 1914, (Eisernes Kreuz, II Klasse, 1914) I will write: EK2.1914.
    To name the Cross of Honor for combatants, (Ehren Kreuz für Frontkämpfer 1914-1918, also called Hindenburg Kreuz) I will write: EFK
