new 1914 Eisernes Kreuz II

Just scooped up this 1914 EKII. Hasn't arrived yet but the dealer photos are better than what I can take anyways. Appears to be original & I was given the green light on this cross by a very knowledgeable member here. Not a big ticket item by any means but they sure look good.

It looks to be an early sand cast core, my favorite.
Did you get any info on a possible maker?

I love the "been there-done that" wear on the cross.
If crosses could talk, I would love to hear the story behind this one.

Possibly a Godet. It has the Godet/ Meybaurer core and the frame
looks very close but there is enough wear to the corners that I can not make
a definite call.

@Ralph thanks! I am very happy to have a good one in my collection. The cross is unmarked & there was no further information in the listing but I plan on combing through the forum and seeing what I can find for similar crosses.

I am excited for it to arrive! What's funny is I don't have much interest in WWI at all but I absolutely love 1914 EKII's & some of the other WWI era awards. I find them to be better looking than most of the Third Reich medals. The 1914's especially w/ the black & white ribbon look far better than 1939 EKII's in my opinion!

I totally agree with you. Imperial EKs are much more interesting. Each core has its differences which I find compelling. I also find other Imperial awards of great interest although I do also have some TR items as well.
