    I don't collect medals, but that looks damn nice considering it's two hundred plus years old!

    The condition is amazing! Lovely award!

    Who is the bust of? Designed in a very Roman Imperial fashion.

    That is the local ruler, Carl August, who was a massive sponsor of the arts in Weimar. During his reign many icons of German culture lived and worked there, including Goethe, Schiller and the Humboldt brothers. And Schelling and Novalis, as if those weren't enough.

    With all due respect to Carl August.........he does bear a striking resemblance to John Belushi at the toga party in Animal House!
