Emedals is offering a cased silver gilt based model made in the late 30s early 40s for $8500 I think. A 1770-90 made PLM chipped and without ribbon or loop for $48500 and a silver gilt 1916-18 manufactured one for $22500 so lots of choice for you to consider for your next purchas.
$48,500?? A bargain....just let me sell off some of the wife's diamonds...

After this, my wife denied me any further participation on this forum :-)
I could for sure settle for the one at 22500,- ;-)

WOW!!! I did some Research from the link big ned posted early on this thread. It is a good reference Link. It has what to look for in Original awards as far as maker markings, etc. They think most of these were made only by jewelers of the time. The one Maker I questioned only made 670 of them, I think if I understood the information correctly. I hope one of the mod's add ned's link to our forum for reference.
Thanks,
John

I gave up my search for the Blue Max....although I still enjoy watching the movie! I could buy a very nice car or 2 for that price. Pay for 1 year of my 4 kids college!!! LOL.
I just wanted to tell my forum friends why I asked about this. Well, I had a chance to buy one. Here are the pictures of what I was bidding on .I had an inspection done and photos sent to me. I just wish I had more money. I really wanted this one. It went for USD 3250.00. Cheap in my opinion for what it was.
Thanks,
John
