Star of the Grand Cross of the Iron Cross
1914 Star of the Grand Cross of the Iron Cross.
Unmarked but made by Steinhauer and Luck. It appears that the Iron Cross can be removed but in reality I don't think it can (nor will I try). No PZK or LDO stamps indicated it was made in the early/mid 1930's. Marked 800 on the Star.
For those that don't know, only one was awarded during WW1 and that was to Hindenburg. So the extremely few examples we do see are called Museum specimens, made to showcase the skills of the manufacturer.
These Museum specimens should not be confused with the very common post war copies / fakes.

My greatest fear is that one day I will die and my wife will sell my guns for what I told her I paid for them

Nice Bluecher-Stern, as close as you'll get to an original.

LoL. Yes unless I "borrow" von Bluecher or Hindenburg's

LOL, very true, although Bluecher's Stern was destroyed when his Schloss burned down. Maybe the Russians have something stashed away that they could loan you.....
