Stoneleigh (UK) 2018
'anyone planning to attend?
It's not what it used to be...for some at least. This used to be held in huge cow sheds (cleaned!) which were badly lit (if lit at all) and were FREEZING....kit/stuff was all over the floor and only the "posh" dealers had tables...there were very few non-sales pitches and "Living History" wasn't really living then......but it was fun.......rummaging and negotiating was the order of the day.....
Nowadays its all "nice"........quite "corporate" really......last year I saw a man in a suit! :-).........singers, Living History, lights, heating, tiled floors etc BUT it's the first biggie of the year for the UK.......and it's warm inside once they let you in!

Militaria Shows - Stoneleigh - 2018-01-28

noted....but it's only 25 mins drive to Birmingham airport......although you may have some challenges getting some of the more interesting for-sale items home!
-
I'm going, it'll be my first Militaria fair. Only a 7 hour drive from the north of Jockland

what's your specialist subject Mr 7D7?
-
My specialist subject? Well I guess it would be "Feck all to do with militaria" ha ha. I'm a novice having only started collecting in Oct 16. Rather than buying anything and everything like I did at the beginning, I've narrowed my collecting down to KVK1, Polizei items and Edged weapons.
-
well, welcome aboard!!!
A seven hour drive?....either set off early or stop over somewhere local on the Saturday......a couple of hours after opening you won't be able to move let alone see the stalls!
'might see you there....I'll look out for a tartan-clad wide-eyed enthusiast who looks like he hasn't slept for a day and a half! ('apologies for stereotyping!)
-
Ha ha no stereotype there as you didn't mention alcohol, swearing or having ginger hair lol!
I'm travelling down on Friday so I'll be bright eyed and bushy tailed and will be able to do some touristy castle seeing too

Haven't been in years, have had some good deals in the past but friends who have been recently have not been impressed. If you are a newbie collector and plan to attend you might consider getting one of the old salts to meet you there. You know what they say about a fool and his money - and there are unscrupulous sorts about and not everything there is as old as you think.
