Granatwerfer & me are planning to be there on the first day.....
I'm planning to be there from the 23th till the 30th, Sunday to Sunday.
ill be there tuesday
...so, 'looks like there'll be quite a "Relics" turn out...do you think we should have a badge commissioned....or even a T shirt? :-)
It's always a challenge isn't it...do we agree a meeting a place and spend some valuable time meeting, socialising, putting faces to names, improving and forging relationships, better preparing ourselves for the written "jousts" over the coming year....or say "s*d you lot...I'm goin' after the good stuff before you get it all!"
NB I should add here that anyone who thinks that all the good stuff didn't change hands in the car park or even the motorway Services on the Saturday or Sunday is a tad out of touch!
NB + 1 after years of standing in queues assessing the guys in front of me, worrying that they'll beat me to the one thing I'm after I've learned that the chances of there being a collector of "my" stuff in front of me is very very thin......and it's all been bought anyway!!!!!
Have only been the once, last year. That one trip was all it's taken to make this show the highlight of my year as a history enthusiast.
Having heard nothing but good things about the Hop Farm site, I'm really looking forward to next week. Hopefully the weather holds up!
Would be good to bump into some of you, but I'll probably be too busy running around the militaria stalls like a kid in a sweet shop to notice much of anything else!
Also, weather permitting, I'll be taking a lot of photos. If all goes well, I'll put them up here.
B.B.
You old cynic
You are correct for the most part but for me this doesn't detract from the event.
I rarely pick up "bargains" to add to the main areas of my collection but I always come away with something and it's usually an interesting piece that I would never have otherwise thought of. But then despite having a hard core to my collection I do have a great deal of background material that adds volume to the rest.
There is loads to see there and if my "badge money" stays in my pocket so what? I can spend it later having enjoyed a brilliant couple of days "at the funfair"
However, as with all such events one has to be alert to fakes, intentionally purveyed or not!!
Regards
Mark
"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. A man who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing he cares more about than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature with no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."
...the highlight for me is meeting great people............
('can't find a vomiting emoji!)
Hi Please is any one able to give us an update on the show it being its first day today?
Well, it was good fun...lots of stalls......opened 4 minutes early.......hot..but it's gonna p-down tomorrow......vehicle count still down.....lots of Euro-dealers so usual price differential applies....
