I don't believe it is gold, I think it is a refinished bronze and the back plate has been glued in.
The crimps for retaining the back plate are missing. The fluted pin should be hollowed out on the back.
I'm not convinced this is even an original, there are 22 different variants from this maker group.

Thanks Ralph. I appreciate all of the extra info. I was concerned that the crimps were not overlapping the plate and I was worried that a newer plate might have also been installed. Also worried about the style of Pin. If I'm not mistaken, I also thought it had a Deschler ?? style pin on it.....making me nervous that it had been "pieced together?" The finish was also a little "too nice" and I had concerns about it.
