Markings under plastic visor

Article about: Hello. Annoyed from this ads?   I have always wondered what the code under the plastic visor of DDR/NVA caps means? A lot of the NVA caps I've seen have the code S3117/3II on the visor.

    Hello.

    I have always wondered what the code under the plastic visor of DDR/NVA caps means? A lot of the NVA caps I've seen have the code S3117/3II on the visor. Also, some reproduction TR-era caps also have the same code under the plastic visor. Could someone explain this to me?

    I believe it's just a part number I have caps from the same maker from the same date range with and with out this code- including MDI & NVA caps
