hello, I am looking for information on this VOPO uniform because I have several conflicting sources. The marking is "55" or 65". the fabric, the buttons, markings , the collars and shoulder straps are reminiscent of a uniform from the 60s, but some collectors are surprised by the open collar which would have appeared only in the 70s.

I agree with you. But some collectors are reluctants because of the open collar.

I wouldn't expect to see an open collar tunic from 1955, and as far as I am aware, tunics from that period also had green piping to the edge of the collar and on the edge of the false French cuffs. The leather for the belt should also have the coupling stitched on and not riveted.

Steeve , you're right about open collar and belt. the open neck is THE problem. If we admit that the "5" is a difficult to read "6", we have an officer cloth tunic dated 1965. We must change the buckle and the badge of the cap. But, even with the date of 1965, the outfit is atypical. Yet everything is good: fabric, buttons, sewing, lining, shoulder boards (1950-1967) … Documents about Volkspolizeï are quit rare. french collectors who help me have looked at all the books...

Why change the badge of the cap? If the cap is dated before 1961, then the badge is correct and the cap is too early for the tunic!

I'd say it's a 6, note the circular angles differ.
