I love this photo. I have it on my computer too and have posted before.
She only just made it and the situation is extremely tense.
I wonder how many other guns were out that we can't see?
NVA was the Army of the DDR. I think you made a typo.
Very cool photo, though!

Hang on NVA is North Vietnamese Army
So is the title correct now?
It seems as if I can not edit the main title that is on the forum thread listing.
Thank you TWS
What I like is what looks like a AK 47 being held by the second guy up on the right.

It's a movie still from East Zone, West Zone [Oggi a Berlino]:

Oh, what a shame!
That’s quite disappointing...
It’s such a fantastic and powerful image, until you know that.
Superbly done, however.

Yep, it is a rather well known image yet many people do think it is real but if you think about it how would such a clear image from that angle and in real time ever be possible in the period?
I am sure if we study it closely enough the will be errors, there usually are!
However, it is surely an accurate depiction of incidents that did occur.
@Phil, yes it would be during the period of tension when East - West passage into the Western sectors was restricted and immediately before the Wall went up.
@Todd, yes the NVA was the army but the forerunner of the VoPo (Volkspolizei) was the KVP (Kasernierte Volkspolizei) which as well as sprouting the VoPo in fact "gave birth" to the NVA
@Rene, OK I'll bite NVA = Nationalen Volksarmee (which you know fine well )
Regards
Mark
