Hello everyone

I'm researching my late grandfather's war history. He passed away in 1980 and never talked much about anything, having three daughters but no son.

I stumbled onto this forum when I accidentally found his Commando ring from Italy, and I'm now trying to pinpoint his exact unit and deployments throughout the war.

I've found a thread about it already! This forum really seems to be the place I was missing to put the pieces together.

WW2 Polish Commando Ring.

The ring is really faded from having been worn for 30 years, but I gathered that it was given right before Monte Cassino to the first Polish Commando soldiers to fight in Italy in 43.

It's engraved Poland Commando, and on the inside Sangro-Garigliano 1943-1944. 84 were made, his is marked 68.
