Hello All
Hello All,
I found this forum while searching for information on an item my father brought home from WW2. When I am able to post I will post pics and see if you can help me ID and confirm or dis-spell the story he was told when he acquired it. Most of my relics are his from when he flew with the 8th air force in 44-45. Hope to be talking to you soon

Welcome to the site Bobby,
I'll be looking forward to see what you will be posting.
My Uncle Joe was a B-17 tail gunner with the 8th Air Force.
So I have a passion for anything 8th AF or its personnel.

Phil,
What bomber group was your uncle in? And what years? My dad was in England ( Leiston ) from around Sept 44 until around May 45. He was in the 357th Fighter Group. He may have escorted your uncle.

Bobby,
He arrived in England in January 1943 attached to the 6th services squadron at Northamptonshire,Graton Underwood station 106. In 22 June 1943 the 384th Bomb Group was assigned to there and started the operational missions there. . He volunteered for flight duty and was assigned to the 545th Bombardment Squadron (Heavy), per AAF Station 106 Special Orders #91 dated 7 September 1943. He was shot down on April 13th 1944 on a mission to Schweinfurt Ball Bearing factory and became a guest of the Germany at Stalag 17B in Krems Austria for the duration.
Looks like my uncle was a POW by the time your Father started flying with the 375th FG.
