Hello from a hopeful new member
My grandfather brought back a couple helmets. My father just passed and now i am reliving these helmet. So I began to do some research. I have become amazed with all the info here. I have already learned so much just peering in.
One of helmets, I believe is a Dutch (KNIL). I would love to find ask much info about it and a home that would really appreciate it. There seems to be a wealth of knowledge here. There is one member I have been reading that is a specialist in Dutch helmet Emile verbunt I would love to converse with.
The second helmet is "I believe" M1940 ribbed Luftschutz.
I hope to learn and understand the background of these 2 helmets and maybe understand how my grandfather came to have them.... base on where he served.
thank you

Welcome! This is a great community with LOTS of knowledge. The helmets sound neat! It usually doesn't take long for your account to be approved. After that, you'll be able to post threads elsewhere on the forum and make comments.

Welcome
Looking forward to seeing the helmets. I don't know much about KNIL helmets but think they were exclusive to the Pacific. If I'm correct (often times not), unless your grandfather served in both the European and the Pacific, and they were true "bring back" items, it might not be KNIL.
Either way, looking forward to seeing the helmets so we can help you out.
"Please", Thank You" and proper manners appreciated
