ID makers mark on Russsian belt buckle

Greetings to one and all!
I recently acquired a number of communist belts and buckles.
One has me puzzled. It is a common looking post war soviet army belt buckle but it is on a canvas belt w/o the rubberized coating. Also ir is painted that weird green used on their buckles but it is steel, not brass. Also the belt catch/hasp is steel and grey. Here's the kicker-the makers mark on the tongue is an asterisk ( * ) or 5 pointed line star.
I don't have the ability to post a picture at this time, I hope my description is enough for an ID.
